Hayward and the East Bay

Appliance Repair Services for Hayward and Nearby Towns

Pick the machine that quit. Each page lists the usual failures and what the tech tests first, so you know what the visit covers.

Kitchen and laundry

Which repair page fits what you're seeing?

Hayward Appliance Care sets up repair visits for the appliances below, in houses, condos and apartments across Hayward, Alameda County and Contra Costa County.

Refrigerator and freezer repair

For a fridge that runs but stays warm, a freezer that frosts up or won't hold zero, and water pooling under the crisper drawers. Covers top-freezer, bottom-freezer, French door, side-by-side and standalone chest or upright freezers. Start here if food is at risk.

Washer repair

Front-loaders and top-loaders that stop with water in the drum, won't spin, lock the door or shake hard on the spin cycle. Includes stacked pairs in apartment closets. If water is already on the floor, the washer leak guide comes first.

Dryer repair

Gas and electric dryers that tumble with no heat, take two cycles, squeal or smell hot. The page explains why the vent gets checked on almost every no-heat visit.

Dishwasher repair

Gray water left in the tub, a puddle at the door, dishes coming out gritty, or a panel that won't respond. Many drain problems start in the sink plumbing it shares with the disposal.

Oven, stove and range repair

Ovens that won't heat or run off temperature, broil that works when bake doesn't, and burners that won't light or won't stop clicking. Has a section on testing the oven well before Thanksgiving.

Ice maker repair

An empty bin, small or hollow cubes, water on the freezer floor, or a dispenser that jams. Freezer temperature and water supply both get checked, because either one stops the ice.

Cooktop and microwave repair

Gas, radiant glass and induction cooktops, plus over-the-range and built-in microwaves. If your cooktop is part of a range with an oven underneath, the oven page also applies.

Garbage disposal repair

Disposals that hum without turning, leak into the sink cabinet or do nothing at the switch. Repair or replacement, depending on what the tech finds.

Overlaps

Not sure which appliance is really at fault?

Some problems show up in one machine and start in another. These are the common ones.

Dishwasher won't drain, and there's a disposal under the sink

Most built-in dishwashers drain through the disposal or a branch tailpiece beside it. A clogged disposal, or a new disposal with its knockout plug still in place, leaves water in the dishwasher. Mention both on the call.

No ice, but the freezer is holding cold

That's an ice maker or water supply problem. If the freezer is also soft, the fridge is the bigger job, and the refrigerator page is the one to read.

Burners work, oven doesn't (or the other way around)

On a range, the cooktop and the oven use separate parts. Say which half fails so the tech brings the right ones.

Washer done, clothes still soaked

If the washer didn't spin the water out, the dryer will seem slow. A load that comes out of the washer dripping is a washer problem, not a dryer one.

Visits

What else do people ask about the visit?

Can one visit cover two appliances?

Often, if you mention both on the call. Say which one matters most so the visit plans the parts and time around it.

Do you work on gas appliances?

Yes, gas ranges, ovens, cooktops and dryers. If you smell gas right now, leave the house first; the gas smell guide has the steps.

Will the tech have the part on the first visit?

The model number on the call is the best way to make that likely. If a part has to be ordered, you'll know before the tech leaves, along with the written price for the whole repair.

Are installations part of this?

These pages are about repairs. If a new appliance was just installed and won't run, call and describe it; many of those calls turn out to be a supply line, a shipping bolt or a drain knockout plug.

Coverage

Is your home on the service map?

Hayward and the towns around it are covered, along with much of Contra Costa County. Type the ZIP where the appliance is.

Check your ZIP before you call

The first ten minutes

Want the right appliance fixed the first time?

The first few minutes of the call settle which machine is at fault and which parts the visit should plan for.
