Checking a registration
In California, businesses that repair major home appliances for a fee must be registered as service dealers with the Bureau of Household Goods and Services. You can look up any dealer by name or registration number with the state's Department of Consumer Affairs license search. Ask the technician for the company's registration number at the visit if you'd like to check it.
